Guiding Principles

  • Perform for an audience of One
  • Nothing you give God will go unreturned
  • Ruthlessly eliminate hurry
  • Walking the “Bridge of Disciplines” is required to become the person we were meant to be
  • The disciplines serve us, we do not serve them
  • Spiritual goals are given not set
  • Total surrender is necessary to become all that we can be for Christ, because He desires all of our heart, not just a portion
  • If it does not lead to closer intimacy with the Father, throw it out
  • Remove all encumbrances
  • Nothing great comes without great effort
  • Give no energy to what you have no control over or do not know
  • I am a slave to nothing but Christ
  • We pray not because we have to, but because we need to
  • The divine nod of approval is completely sufficient
  • We fail because of a lack of purposeful action
  • Be careful not to answer a question that has not been asked
  • Eliminate distraction
  • Structure each day around devotion to God, instead of just fitting Him in
  • Make decisions based on the end goal of what you really want as opposed to the feeling in the moment
  • Hope in the unchanging character of God instead of the ebb and flow of inner feelings and outward circumstances
  • The circumstances of my life neither define who I am nor determine my future
  • Love must be freely chosen for it to be true
  • God expands our time as we give it to Him
  • Pursue love, joy, and peace
  • To influence someone, you must also be influenced by them
  • Few finish well
  • All true wisdom is God’s Truth imprinted on the universe
  • Nothing has power to tempt me that I have not given power by what I permit to be in me
  • Free will is the ultimate freedom or the ultimate prison depending on the choices you make
  • Ask questions in order to understand, don’t just give opinion
  • Let your words be few and full
  • Speak simply and from the divine center
  • You cannot usurp God’s authority and be happy
  • It is ridiculous to ask God to make you happy apart from Him
  • Meditation involves listening and then obeying
  • Fill yourself with thoughts of what you really want
  • Do not choose to lock yourself in the prison of wrongful thoughts and desires
  • Be the change you want to see
  • Practice healthy self examination, avoid introspective absorption
  • Love is the genuine inner readiness to secure the good of others
  • Bearing fruit means giving Truth not obtaining results
  • Give the Word, then pray God keeps them from the evil one and that they receive the Word in their hearts [John 17]
  • My identity should not be placed on another’s conversion
  • Talk to Him, think about Him, read about Him, do things for Him
  • Trust the Lion, love the Lion, live for the Lion
  • Spiritual growth is obtained, not attained
  • Form good habits and become their slave
  • Correction comes from impatience, teaching from patience
  • Pursue God at 1,000 mph every day
  • Always, always, always draw on God’s power and wisdom
  • Do not focus on what the devil used to get in and walk around, but rather on the point of entry
  • Pursuing God is the slaying of idols
  • Truth never changes, methods and techniques do
  • Your thoughts not mine Father
  • There is nothing or no one wiser or more powerful than God
  • We are not required to know much, but to act on what we know
  • There is no book greater than the Bible
  • The only way He can be influenced is through faith and love
  • The difficulty of the training to become better is imperative
  • Only God satisfies the longing of the heart
  • Listen to every word people say, listen for what they mean by what they say, and listen for what they need, which they may not be able to say
  • Let your love for others be deeply gracious, always forgiving, and ever hopeful
  • God needs no earthly power or influence to accomplish His will, only willing instruments dedicated to Him
  • Any faith that makes the blessedness of people dependent on anything other than God Himself is, to that extent, a false faith
  • Change comes through vision, decision, and action, not by accident
  • The destination is the motivation
  • We need reminding more than we need instructing
  • Withdrawal is not an option
  • Without vision people are lost
  • What does my “no” say yes to, and what does my “yes” say no to
  • You don’t need to add to Perfection, just pursue it
  • Focus more on His comfort than on your own discomfort

  • You are never, even for one hour, called to be the Vine, only a branch

  • Everyone needs a rhythmic form of daily renewal
  • Control the controllable, accept the uncontrollable
  • Spiritual leadership is moving people on to God’s agenda
  • The greatest obstacle to effective spiritual leadership is people pursuing their own agendas rather than seeking God’s will
  • “I love you more than any ability to reject Me”
  • The universe is governed by principles God has set forth
  • God doesn’t demand perfection, He desires pursuit of Him
  • If you slip & stumble, don’t spend too much time in anguished regrets & self accusations but begin again, just where you are
  • It’s not what you see, it’s how you see
  • Thoughts are things
  • What’s in your mind will be in someone els’s mind
  • The greatest gift you can give humanity is to give yourself totally to God, so that anyone who comes into contact with you is automatically touched by His super natural love that is flowing through you
  • Your circumstances do not determine your satisfaction in life, your thinking does
  • Embrace correction like a lover
  • Don’t do anything to just get it done, but rather experience your experiences
  • People respond to how you feel about them on the inside more than your external words or behavior
  • Yahweh is always acting & always speaking,  we are not always looking & listening
  • We have a God who is infinitely good & knows what He is doing
  • Your quality of life depends on your level of surrender
  • Seek God first & you’ll have everything you want
  • One of the most common & compelling temptations is “Do this  good thing without consulting God first.”
  • Awareness-Acceptance-Action
  • There is no pressure on me except that which I put upon myself
  • Whatever something costs you is exactly what it is worth to you
  • The Messenger is perfect, the message is perfect, the listener is fallible
  • What if life is not so much about what you believe, but who you love
  • When in doubt, communicate
  • As fear grows, we define ourselves by what we’ve done instead of what we were created to be
  • God never burns people out
  • God does not give people more than they can handle, but people regularly assume responsibility for things they should not be doing
  • Spiritual leaders understand that if they neglect their relationship with God, they forfeit their spiritual authority
  • Forgiveness is actively relieving others of payment for their wrongs against you–payments in the form of your silence, disgusted stare, inner resentments…
  • I am not a slave to my circumstances, present or past, but to my thoughts.
  • Whatever we concentrate on, we give power to
  • Read for transformation, not just information
  • Jesus can only work with desire
  • I am created to pursue an authentic relationship with my Creator
  • I belong to Jesus and define who I am by what He says
  • I exist every day to demonstrate God’s love to a broken world
  • I am who I AM says I am
  • Whenever you complain against someone, you’re really complaining against God
  • Until you repent of the sin of viewing yourself as lower than how God views you, you will remain stuck
  • Sacrifice the trivial many for the vital few
  • It’s amazing what one can do when one knows they are loved
  • I let God change me instead of first trying to change others
  • Whatever you cannot give away, you do not possess. It possesses you
  • Live in the divine appointment of the present moment
